At Dakota Tiwahe Services Inc., we are dedicated to providing integrated and collaborative support to the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation. Prevention Services: Building Strong Foundations

Since 2018, Dakota Tiwahe Services has been at the forefront of offering crucial prevention services within Sioux Valley. Our proactive programs are designed to empower families and promote child well-being, aiming to build strong foundations and prevent crises before they arise. We believe in nurturing a supportive environment where families can thrive.

Our dedicated interventions focus on ensuring the safety and security of our children. We are committed to culturally appropriate approaches that prioritize family reunification whenever possible, maintaining the vital connection to cultural continuity. As we move towards full mandate, we will have the ability to deliver services to our membership regardless of where they live.

Kinship Home Services:
The Strength of Extended Family

Reinforcing the traditional Dakota value of extended family care, DTS provides comprehensive assistance for families who open their homes to relatives’ children. We support kinship placements to ensure children remain connected to their extended family and cultural heritage, fostering stability and belonging.

Support for Kinship Families:

  • Placement Support: Assisting with the process of kinship care arrangements.
  • Financial & Resource Navigation: Helping kinship caregivers access available support.
  • Cultural Connection: Ensuring children maintain ties to their heritage and community.
  • Ongoing Training & Support: Providing resources for kinship caregivers to succeed.
